Ideas & Inventions
Generated many inventions Ideas and designs either as a hobby or in competitions for ideas.
Participated in many idea competitions for solving environmental issues (2022–23, aged 18–19)
As a part of a two-person team, participated in various idea competitions, hosted by IDEARO, an idea trading or donating platform operated by Korean Patent Office (KPO) and KIPA.
I contributed in problem solving and designing the solutions.
Among many challenges, we participated mainly in the ones for solving environmental issues like plastic wastes:
challenge for an innovative design for a tumbler for increased usage (won a prize)
challenge for improving the service idea of upcycling sunshade clothes in farms into free bags etc. (won a prize)
challenge for improving the design of a vending machine for reusable food containers.
challenge for improving the design of a refill station for shampoo & cereal etc.
Won several idea challenges including one for a tumbler design that incentivizes more frequent use (cf. snapshots below)
Designed a new refrigerator more accessible for people on wheelchairs (2020, aged 16)
The bottom of the refrigerator is recessed inward to allow wheelchair users to get closer.
Items like frequently used bottles or beverages are placed upright in the lower part of the refrigerator for easy retrieval while sitting.
When the refrigerator door is opened by a voice command, the shelf inside the refrigerator automatically slides out towards the user like a drawer, making it easy to retrieve items even while seated.
An Idea for troubleshooting inter-floor noise from musical instruments (2019, aged 15)
- Invention Abstract: To prevent inter-floor noise by measuring the loudness of musical instruments according to the time and space of musical instrument playing and notifying when the sound is loud.
- Target Problem: Musical instruments are often the cause of noise disputes between apartment residents. However, instrumentalists may not realize that they are playing louder when they are immersed in their performance. Noise measurement apps are available on smartphones, but noise generators have no reason to use them often.
- Solution invented: The present invention adds a function to metronomes and guitar tuners, devices frequently used by instrumentalists, to warn them when their playing becomes too loud so that instrumentalists can naturally manage the sound of their playing. (details omitted)
